King Hezekiah: Keep your secrets secret!

"What did they see in your palace?" Isaiah asked. "They saw everything," Hezekiah replied. "I showed them everything I own--all my royal treasuries." 2 Kings 20:15

What would happen if you now have Coca-Cola's secret recipe? or Apple's design for it's 2015 products? Secrets are vital.

We can learn from this king. Hezekiah was sick and at the point of death, he cried out to God after receiving a death sentence from a prophet. God healed him and the king of Babylon sent some well-wishers to congratulate them. Hezekiah took them around his house and palace and showed them everything. Everything he showed to the visitors, he, his kingdom and dynasty lost to Babylon.

Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. Proverbs 17:28

In February 2013, Sub-Lt. Jeffrey Paul Delisle, a Canadian navy officer accused of selling military secrets to Russia, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Wise individuals, companies and countries do not expose all their secrets anyhow.

Secrets are what can make or mar the destiny of an individual, organization or country. It is a well known secret, that Coca-Cola’s recipe is a well-guarded secret. MacDonald French fries, KFC, manufacturing companies etc, guard their secrets jealously, so should you.

The US and Canadian governments have classified their sensitive information into 3 categories: Confidential, Secret and Top Secret. Only individuals cleared for each level can handle information at that and lower levels.

Note however, that keeping secrets does not cover sin-secrets. Nothing can be hidden from God. Sins are to be confessed and stopped. God will judge every secret sin (Ecclesiastes 12:14).

God has secrets and only shares them with very trusted friends. Abraham , Moses, Joshua, Paul, to mention a few, were friends of God. The secrets you access from God will determine the extent to which you advance in your life, calling and destiny. How prepared are you to access these secrets. Access them through a committed devotion to the word of God and prayer.

“For the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7
