The fellowship of His Sufferings: Feeling abandoned

Prayers

1.    I will not be forsaken by the power in the blood of Jesus.

2.    I will not be abandoned, relegated, sidelined, cast away or cast aside in the name of Jesus.

It is my prayer that:

You will never be abandoned in the name of Jesus.

Texts:

Matthew 27:46

About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). (NIV)

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (NLT)

Hebrews 13:5-6

King James Bible

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Berean Study Bible

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, for God has said: “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence: “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

Feeling means mood, sense, feel, emotion, thinking and attitude.

Abandoned means deserted, empty, neglected, forsaken, left, and discarded.

Feeling abandoned therefore is a mood, sense, emotion, attitude and thinking of being forsaken, deserted, empty, neglected, left and/or discarded.

Feeling abandoned does not mean that you:

Ø Are abandoned or

Ø Have been abandoned.

Due to feelings of abandonment, some have gone into depression, suffered health and mental challenges and developed financial problems etc.

To make matters worse, abandonment by man is sometimes considered as abandonment by God. However, this is not the case.

NOTE that: What you are going through is all a part of God's plan to bring you to a better place.

In Matthew 27:46, Jesus cried my God why have you forsaken me?

About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). (NIV)

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (NLT)

It was a question.

You can ask God questions to shed light on the situation you are going through - the why?

It will enable you have a better understanding of how you got to where you are.

If it is due to sin, you can take corrective actions immediately to rectify the situation

Galatians 5:19-23 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The goal is to live the life of Christ through Christ as stated in:

Galatians 2:20, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

This can be done by crucifying the flesh:

Galatians 5:24-25  24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

And being renewed in your mind:

Roman's 12:1-2 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Maintain your godly relationship with God as your Father.  Jesus said my God.  His relationship was intact.

Some would forsake their relationship with God like Demas, Hymenaeus, Diotrephes, Judas Iscariot, sons of Eli, Samson etc.

1 Timothy 1:19holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and thereby shipwrecked their faith. 20Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme.

Sin cuts off the relationship with God (Isaiah 59:1-2).

Disobedience cuts off the relationship with God as disobedience is a spirit which works in the children of disobedience.  1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:1-2):

Disobedience becomes the father of the disobedient and Satan is the father of disobedient people, especially those who have departed from the faith.

Unfortunately, they will have the same fate as their father the devil who will end up in hell and the lake of fire.

Remember that God promised never to leave you or forsake you in Hebrews 13:5-6

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me

He has promised that He will never leave you or forsake you so that you CAN BOLDLY SAY THE LORD IS MY HELPER.

The Lord will help and keep you:

Ø in danger

Ø in health challenges

Ø in financial challenges

Ø in challenges with shelter

Ø in famine (Genesis 26:1, 12-14) etc.

Though the strong and powerful may suffer hunger those who trust in the Lord shall not want anything good.

The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10)

Way out:

1.    Follow God's leading (Romans 8:14 - For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God).

May God lead you by His Spirit in the name of Jesus.

2.    Follow God's plan for your life. According to Habakkuk 2:1-3 watch for what God will show you, listen to him, write down the vision he reveals to you, run along with it and wait for the full manifestation.

1 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.)

May you hear God clearly in the name of Jesus.

May you see the glorious future God has for you in the name of Jesus.

Receive grace to run with the vision and bring it to fulfillment in the name of Jesus.

May there be full manifestation of God’s vision for your life, family, and destiny in the name of Jesus.

3.    Be obedient to God (Job 36:11 - If they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.)

Receive grace for obedience to God in the name of Jesus.

May you serve God with gladness and joy in the name of Jesus.

May you spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasures in the name of Jesus.

4.    Stay away from sin. According to Isaiah 59:1-2, sin and disobedience prevents God from hearing prayers from the sinner. It brings a separation between God and the sinner. It prevents God’s mighty hand from working on behalf of the individual.

1Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.)

Receive grace to stay away from sin in the name of Jesus.

May sin and powers separating between you and God be destroyed in the name of Jesus.

5.    Understand that God loves you dearly. According to John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus loves you greater and better than anyone else can love you. He loved you so much that he chose to experience suffering on your behalf, went through imprisonment, shame, ridicule, and death, to enable you escape this suffering.

6.    Worship God. Be a true worshipper of God. According to John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.)

May your worship be acceptable to God in Jesus name.

7.    Be prayerful. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Bible encourages us to pray without ceasing.

May your prayers touch the heavens and bring answers down for your blessing, enrichment, and expansion of coasts in Jesus mighty name.
